I Have the Piercing Bug Again!

Hi all!  I hope everybody had a great holiday with friends and family!  I will probably update again about my trip with Alex and his family!  But for now, I just wanted to share my latest success!  I took all of my piercings out before I started my job about a year and a half ago....last night I saw some jewlery online that made me want some of them back!  I successfully re-pierced my conch, I was super surprised how much it was still there after so long.  I have only ever had a hoop all the way around, but I think for awhile I'll keep a stud in it.  The ball is always hard for me to conquer on hoops.

These are some of the earrings I bought last night, I am excited to get them in the mail!

Hair Confessions

Next Saturday the fabulous hair stylist, Michelle, will be doing my hair at her new salon, Flair Hair Design in Carmel. I have four hair color ideas for her and I can't decide which one I like best. My mom thinks they are all pretty similar but I can see the differences! Which hair color would you vote for?

Option One

Option Two

Option Three

Option Four

Okay so they may be pretty similar! My worry with option three is I wear my hair straight a lot. I have to get up so early for work I wouldn't have time to curl it so I'm worried the ombré look isn't for me. But isn't it pretty? Which color should I get friends?

Cooking Confessions

This Thanksgiving, my mom asked me to make a dish for our families Thanksgiving meal. I decided to try to make a healthier dish so I turned to my favorite website, ToneItUp.com this site is amazing! It has great workouts and recipes! My favorite workout is the Bootyful booty workout. Even for my itty bitty booty, this workout leaves me sore and gives my butt a lift! It's full of great 30 minute toning workouts. You have to try it!

Anyways, back to the recipe. I decided to make the Tone It Up gluten free stuffing. Here's the recipe!

I ended up changing the recipe a bit. No one in my family has a gluten allergy, so I didn't buy all the gluten free ingredients. I bought wheat bread and organic chicken broth. I also didn't add onions because my mom isn't an onion fan. It was super easy to make! However, the recipe didn't tell me what degree to cook it in! 😁 So I just decided to go with 350' and it turned out wonderful! It was so yummy and smelled heavenly! It also was a big hit with the family! My boyfriend didn't love it, but he's such a plain eater. He only likes chicken and pizza. My aunt however, asked if she could take the leftovers home! I would totally make this again for any family gathering! Here's a picture of what my dish looked like!

I hope everyone had a excellent and delicious Thanksgiving!

It's beginning to look (a little) like Christmas

The decorations are slowly but surely getting put up (bought). Had to hit up Home Goods (THE Adult Candy Store) before it was picked over! More to come, folks :)

--Haley
I may have saw something similar to this on Pinterest.. but it had ornaments inside.  I couldn't pass it up when I saw it on SALE..sitting right next to a bag of pretty snow brushed pine cones!!

This table has just been deemed the seasonal table.. it's the only thing I can think of to decorate when a new holiday approaches.  I want to change the candle thing out, but haven't found something I have fallen in love with yet.  Ooooh, I could do a table runner though!.. What do you think?

Bear baby is watching his poppa start a fire!  We had a delicious roast he cooked, last night, and had my mom and her boyfriend over.  He obviously was trying to set the mood :)

These are the decorations I have for the mantel so far.  I can't decide if I want to get something longer for the center, like letters that spell out "Joy" or "Noel" or something. Those silver things on each side of the tv, made it RAIN glitter in my car and all over my house too.  Whoopsies

Finally a second to introduce myself :)

Hello, hello, hello! I have finally found sometime to sit down and write on our blog... not to mention Haley & Emily will be ecstatic when they see this post. :)

As you have seen, I am the 'Elite Event Planner.' So much of my time is spent planning and working special events. Weddings mostly, but also corporate and social events. I'll take this opportunity to showcase my career - since it is what I'm doing the most, and frankly, besides my cat - my life.

(oh, that pretty little thing... thats Ava. I'll save her for another post.)

I work at a local event venue facility: Mavris Arts & Event Center. I love love LOVE it. I love the facility itself, the people I get the chance to meet, as well as the staff. I work loooong hours that turn into even longer weeks, but I sincerely enjoy what I do. I get to watch people get married. Every weekend. It's the best. :)

I'm the girl that gets to work an hour before the bride and leaves once everything is finished. My job is to make sure everything is perfect. I see the room at the very beginning, a clean slate.

I then help transform the space into exactly what that bride envisions.
Every event is completely different. Here are a few pictures of the same space, just transformed into someone else's dream wedding:

I can't wait to keep you updated on the latest wedding trends (to help my soon-to-be-married friend, Ariana! Yay!!) but as well as fun things going on in mine and Ava's life. :)

Until next time friends,

XOXO - Gossip Girl

Totally kidding. I had to do it. :) -- Love, Brittany

Love Confessions

Today I was reading this months Cosmo magazine and fell in love with this quote from Taylor Swifts article.

"Marry your conscience. Marry the one who makes you want to be a better person." Just found this to be wonderful relationship advice!  Love tips from Jay Leno, who would of thought?

My Boyfriend Still Drinks from Sippy Cups!

Okay, so the first time I ever went to visit and meet my boyfriend's Granna he told me that she makes the best sweet tea in the world.  I love sweet tea, so this was great news to me! We get there and he asks if I want some, of course I say "yes".  However, when I see him hand a child's sippy cup to me I get a little confused.  He tries to convince me this is how they all drink Granna's sweet tea, but you know how it is when you're the newbie and you always suspect people are trying to pull one over on you and make you look silly.   So I tried my hardest to crack him, but he never did!  I didn't believe him for the longest time that this was a normal thing for visitors or family to do... but I eventually found out that it most certainly is.    Indeed it is a tradition there, anytime you drink the sweet tea, you must drink it from a sippy cup.
So today I was craving some freshly brewed sweet tea, so I went to the store and bought a tea kettle, some tea bags, and some cute little sippy cups.  I text Alex that I have a treat for him when he gets home, so he got all excited.  If you know guys, I'm sure he thinks it's going to be something suuuuuper cool...but it ain't.
However, as weird as it may sound I know that he will still be excited to see a sippy cup full of delicous sweet tea... I'll let you know his reaction :)

UPDATE:  He LOVED the surprise :)  I can't lie, they are pretty awesome... they can tip and no drip!  I think I may start implementing a new rule at our household; guests that have had 3 or more drinks or appear to be unstable have to drink out of a sippy cup.   What do you think?

Cheers to the weekend!
Haley =)

A Teacher's Confession

Obama wins!! I could not be happier about the outcome of this years election. This year was the first for me to become involved in politics and my first year to vote. I will be the first to admit that I'm no pro when it comes to politics, but I realized with my career choice, I cannot not care about who leads our country.

I am thankful to have a president that cares about the middle class. I am thankful to have a president that cares about education. After all, I am a teacher. I'm thankful I can still inspire young minds without fearng to lose my benefits. I'm thankful that my father will be able to continue to lead the auto industry and build American made cars for our country. I'm thankful that veterans will be able to come home from war and be welcomed by support and job opportunities.

I know not everyone is excited about four more years with Obama, but he is our president. United we stand!

In hope, the Compassionate Teacher

Kindergarten Confessions

Being a kindergarten reading teacher, I hear some very interesting things throughout my day. I thought I write about some of my favorite things I've hear this far in my career in teaching Kindergarten.

For those who do not know me, I am a Title 1 teacher at an urban elementary school. I teach children how to read. In August, my kids did not know their ABC's or how to spell their name. Most of my kids have come a long way from then and we are reading level A books now! Woo hoo! I also now have two fourth graders that I work with that did not pass the IRead test for 3rd grade.

Now that you have some idea of the children I work with here are some of the funny things my kids have told or asked me.

Shanyia (age 5): "Miss Gonzalez, do you have a daughter?" No. "When you get one, will you name her Lindsay?" Sure Shanyia, I'll think about it when that day comes!

E.J. (age 6): "Mom, I mean Miss Gonzalez."

Matthew (age 6): Miss Gonzalez why are you so young? Teachers are suppose to be old."

Jakob (age 6): How was your weekend Jakob? "I had to mow the grass for 6 hours."

Parent at Fall Festival (age 50s?!): "Miss Gonzalez how many tickets does it cost to get my picture taken with you?"

E.J. (age 6): Miss Gonzalez why don't you wear braids and beads in your hair?"

Isaiah (age 5): What you do over fall break? "Laid in bed." Well what else did you do? "Just laid in bed the whole break."

Hunter (age 6): "I HAVE TO POOP (Holding his butt while he says it)!"

Elijah (age 10): "Man I just flip out when kids step on the back of my shoes."

I hope some of these made you giggle, I'll post more when my kids say more silly things.

Moonshine and Puppies

The necessities of a good blog, you ask?
I am still trying to figure out a little bit of the harder aspects of the blog, while enjoying my pup, Phoebe's, company and some good ol' Moonshine.  I actually haven't ever willingly bought Moonshine to drink, but Alex, my boyfriend, brought some home with him today.
It tastes too much like apple pie if you ask me!   Hopefully you'll see some changes with the blog soon!

Cheers!

The First Confession

As you can probably tell, the very first confession is.....this is the first! So I was inspired to start a blog after accidently stumbling upon a super cute blog (while looking for a dessert recipe of course).
I then began to get discouraged after coming to the realization that my 20-something life isn't too terribly interesting right now.  No kids, no wedding to plan, not a terribly big family, or crazy hobbies...I'm not even that good of a cook to be looking for recipes!  I do have an amazing boyfriend, new house, somewhat new job and two adorable dogs though!   But let's be real, how many blogs would it take of photos of my dogs laying down, sleeping, dressed up, laying down, sleeping.. before it got boring?  Not long!   Okay so my life really is interesting but probably not entertaining enough to fill up a blog as much as you're supposed to.  So my next idea was to have all of my closest friends upload to this blog as well.  We all have been best friends since high school, and all have started to branch out and start our post-college lives.  There is a lot of interesting things going on collectively, so I thought it would be a fun way to stay in touch since we don't have as much time to be together as we used to!  I hope you enjoy!
Best,
-The "not always so professional" professional
